This is a brilliant idea, very innovative, and I was certainly more impressed than I expected to be on seeing the bunkers at Maesteg, they look fantastic! As a result we commissioned Enviro-Bunker at Pyle.
Our members have been really positive about the look and performance of the bunker and we have invited Envirosports to present Enviro-Bunker to the South Wales Links Forum in the New Year ”
Peter Rees, Chairman of Greens and former Club Champion at Clyne G.C.:
“We are very pleased with the performance of EnviroBunker so far. The bunker blends in very well, so much so that our members are not aware that it’s synthetic. We have a particular issue with our bunkers as we are on common land and have sheep, cows and horses on the course. They can cause significant damage to bunkers which is costly and time consuming to repair, EnviroBunker certainly seem to out perform grass in this respect
Paul Johnson, Head Greenkeeper at Pyle and Kenfig:
I was sceptical about the concept and how it would look but on seeing the results I am more impressed than I ever thought possible. This is a truly innovative idea, representing huge cost and labour savings. The bunker looks fantastic and performs equally well. You would never suspect that it was anything other than a standard revetted bunker
Andrew Mannion Head Green-Keeper at Southerndown G.C.:
We have been delighted with the result of a bunker we rebuilt on our practice facility using the EnviroBunker method. It looks almost identical to the other bunkers both from a distance and when you are actually in it. After weeks of heavy play, it looks the same as the day it was completed and there has been no negative feedback from any golfers who have used it, partially because I feel they haven’t noticed the difference! As the neighbouring bunkers deteriorate over the next year we will be rebuilding them using the Envirobunker method
Gordon Moir, Director of Green Keeping, St Andrews Links Trust:
Having seen the results of ‘Envirobunker’ on our 15th hole we are convinced that this is the way forward for bunkers on Royston Golf Course. It looks fantastic, in fact photos don’t nearly do it justice.
So impressed are we as a golf club with the results of the initial bunker that we will be constructing 2 more in the summer and plan to re-construct another 10 in the winter. Our long term plan is to get all 57 of our bunkers re built in this style. ‘EnviroBunker’ is the way forward for Royston Golf Club
Ian Coote – Head Greenkeeper Royston G.C:
Sand Moor has had a long standing problem with rabbits damaging the edges of our bunkers. At the Harrogate BTME show we discovered that ‘EnviroBunker’ could be a solution to our problem and we were encouraged to explore the product.
We liked the idea of using recycled materials and the logic of the product/construction seemed sound. The Greens Committee thought that prevention of bunker erosion and less maintenance would be advantageous so we decided to go ahead. One of our problem bunkers has now been reconstructed using the ‘EnviroBunker’ team.
The service was excellent and the timings worked very well and it just took seven hours for the construction process. At the time of writing we are delighted with our new ‘EnviroBunker’
