What did we do?
- Envirobunker Install
Envirosport Ltd were commissioned to re-construct a greenside bunker on hole number 9 at Goswick GC in October 2011. Training to local greenstaff was inegrated into the re-build and further bunkers have been built under licence since that time. The 12m2 bunker face on the 9th was completed in a day and has been met with wide spread approval from members, visitors and greenkeepers.
For this particular project Envirosports Ltd were able to use staff from St Andrews Links to help with the build and training. As a result of a demo day held at Goswick on completion of the work one club, Seaton Carew GC, have suspended all planned bunker work this off season and immediately comissioned the building of EnviroBunker on the golf course. A great testament to the work carried out at Goswick GC.
We commissioned EnviroBunker at Goswick GC following our visit to a demo day at St Andrews where we met the Envirosports team and saw EnviroBunker first hand. We are an regional qualifying course for the Open championship and are very keen to build on our growing reputation hence we take any alterations or renovations to our golf course very seriously.
We were extremely impressed with the EnviroBunker at St Andrews and decided that it was something we should build at Goswick. Having completed the build at Goswick it seems EnviroBunker looks even better than I remember it at St Andrews. We have built a further bunker under licence already and it is highly likely we will build more in the future.
Green Staff, Committee and members alike have been nothing but positive in their reaction to EnviroBunker and I would recommend that other clubs consider it as a viable alternative to traditional bunkering building techniquesClive Millar, Course Manager Goswick GC
